The following side dishes are delicious with chapatis , puris , Nan OR bhaturas,( by incresing the quantities it can be served a smain meal)

SERVES 4 to 6

4 tbsps Cooking OR Olive Oil., 1 Large Onion ( Finely Sliced).

2 Fresh Green chillis( sliced, Remove the seeds for a milder flavour)

2 to 3 pices of cinnamon sticks( 2 inches long)

1 Large potato( peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes)

1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/4 tsp chilli powder( You can add another 1/4 spoon to make it hotter)

125 ml warm water, 1 small white cabbage ( Finely shredded).

1 1/2 tsp salt or to taste

2 tbsps chopped fresh coriander leaves.

METHOD:

1.Heat the Oil over medium heat ,fry the onions, Green chillis , turmeric and cinnamon.until the onions`are soft ( for about 5 mins)

2. Add the potatoes, stir and fry on low heat for 6 to 8 mins.

3. Stir in the chilli powder.

4. add the water and bring it boil. cover the pan and simmer until the potatoes are half cooked ( 6 to 8 Mins)

5. Add the Cabbage and salt , stir and mix well . lower the heat to minimum, cover the pan and cook until the vegetables are tender.( take care not over cook the cabbage)

6. garnish with Coriander leaves.
